The Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony for Julien Day School Ganganagar was organised on 18th February 2023 Saturday where Managing Trustee Mrs S.E. Broughton, Chairman Mr J.G. Broughton, Ma'am Sharmila Broughton, Mr Joshua Broughton, Miss Jessica Broughton, Mr Lesie Pereera from the Board of Trustees, Principals and Vice-Principals of the other branches, Junior Coordinator, Teacher-in-Charge, teachers, staff members, alumni, parent representatives as well as students and their parents were present to witness the auspicious occasion.
Shri Nemai Ghosh, Chairman of Madhyamgram municipality was present along with Shrimati Tannistha Khasnabish, the Councillor of Ward No.11 of Barasat municipality. Shrimati Sumitra Saha, President of Human Rights and Mr Saha.
The day began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Mrs S.E. Broughton, followed by a welcome dance performed by the students of the middle and senior school. The teachers performed a Bengali Rabindra Sangeet as a part of the welcome ceremony as well. The dignitaries were presented with flower bouquets, plaques and handmade greeting cards made by the children of the Julian Nursery School.
The mass service followed with messages from the principal of Julien Day School Ganganagar, Mr Bobby Baxter, Vice-Principal Mr Sayantan Mukherjee, Teacher-in-Charge Mr Lionel Jennings and Junior Coordinator Mrs Cheryl Ann Dey. Special message was given by Father Leo Parimal Hembram from Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Barasat. The service ended with the speech of Chairman Mr J.G. Broughton.
The final part of the ceremony was the blessing of the pit where Father Hembram lay the prayer from the scripture, placed in a glass vase, in the foundation pit and blessed with holy water. Then, one by one, all the dignitaries covered the glass vase with soil. Following the tradition of unity in diversity, a Hindu ritual was also performed at the end of this ceremony, to bless the foundation-laying ceremony.
The anchoring of the event was done by Sreeparna Chakraborty, Simantini Sinha and Amlan Sikder in English and Sarmistha Sarkar in Bengali. Food packets and refreshments were provided to the participants and guests.
